Hawaii's Tides
Hawaiian tides are caused by variables that cause every other tide around the world. The moon's gravitational pull makes the water in the ocean slosh around which causes predictable tides around the world. The waves that are near Hawaii are very large compared to other areas around the world. This is why Hawaii is such a hot spot for surfing. This link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB5c39PZFQ4, is a video of people surfing on waves that form in Hawaii that are caused by the moon's gravitational pull and the wind currents around the area. Other causes for the large waves are the Californian Current, North Equatorial Current, and the Kuroshio Current.
