Hawaii is located on the largest tectonic plate. The island of Hawaii is located on the Pacific Plate. The Pacific Tectonic Plate lies beneath the Pacific Ocean and is over 100 million square miles. As shown in the picture to your left, the Pacific Plate is bordered by the North American Plate, Nazca Plate, Antarctic Plate, Philippine Plate, and the Eurasian Plate. The north-eastern side of the of the Pacific Plate is a divergent boundary, the middle of the eastern side is a transform boundary, and the south eastern side of the plate is divergent boundary as well. For the southern side of the pacific plate, it is all a divergent boundary with the Antarctic Plate. The western side of the plate that Hawaii is on is a convergent boundary. Finally the northern boundary of the Pacific Plate is all a convergent boundary.
